Big Box With A Bow

Darkness, a bed, me cozied up, touching his head...
In comes a thought, I close off my mind,
but such thoughts persist, so I find...
"If he was gone, what would you do?"
The thought, it whispers, and mind follows through...
"This man that you grouched at, what if, what if?"
throat tightens, eyes smart, head shakes at the tiff...
The thought of "without him," it's too much to bear!
God's grace for the moment, that thought I must wear...
I see it, the gift, like a box with a bow.
He's given this day, that much I know...
Tomorrow not promised,
 but now, draw it close!
Taste, savor, don't spend it morose...
This moment, together, a gift wrapped with love.
Don't mar it, don't waste it, this gift from above...
Darkness, a bed, me cozied up, touching his head...
Throat relaxes, eyes close, warm legs on cold toes...
I whisper, "I love you!" his head nods, "Me too!
We're in the top 10 you know, me and you"...
I smile, that's his line, and I love to hear it.
I open my gift, my sweetheart's tucked in it...
