My littlest lady is 6! Amazing how time flies. I took her cake and ice cream and drink to school this afternoon and had a little party with her classroom. I never cease to be amazed at the amount of time you can spend on these projects and then it all disappears in a matter of minutes! It was fun though and her shining eyes made all the effort worth it.
I'm still waiting for all the nice, quiet days with just Charles and I at home....... sometime life is bound to settle down and those days appear, right? Feels like I do a lot of running hither and yon rather than enjoying the quiet at home. But life is good and I am happy. Amen.
neat-o cake! you're quite the creative mother and lady. love to see it.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Judith! I have a fun book wirh cake ideas that helps the creativity quite a bit :)
DeleteLOVE that cake...I think I could even do that for MY little girl's 6th birthday next week! I was interested in knowing your youngest girl and my youngest(aka only!) girl's birthdays are about a week apart, depending which day yours is. Samantha's birth date is 09-09-09. :-)
ReplyDeleteLillian's is 9-3-09 so they are very close! Yes, the cake is really quite simple. The "sand" is graham cracker crumbs and the rest of the decor is candy, etc. In the book I have, they did a few bears in "floaties" and also some goldfish in the water. I did enough bears for each of the children in their classroom and gave them little flags with name (a last minute inspiration that nearly made me late!) :)
DeleteI made something similar for my nephews 7th birthday; the teddy grahams in their tubes were " floating " on blue jello salad. Love your flag idea and the beach chairs! Happy belated birthday!
