These Stones: Remembering Shady Lawn

These Stones is not a history book, with all the facts and details in place; it is not a novel, with everyone's story woven beautifully into one narrative. It is a combination of church biography and individual autobiographical sketches. It is a "scrapbook of memories" that will likely be enjoyed the most by those who have connections to Shady Lawn Mennonite Gospel Chapel, but the rest of you are more than welcome to read along!

An 8 1/2 by 11", hardcover book, These Stones is available for $20.00 plus $3.33 for shipping. You can PayPal Bethany at shadylawnbook@gmail.com or send a check to:

A short video about These Stones, created by my 11 year old daughter, Lillian....

  1. This is so beautiful, Bethany! And the video is 👌.

Thanks for the reminders here too. My mom has incredible stories about their pioneering days in western Canada and my sisters are working at preserving them.

Blessings as you remember your mom. She sounds like a very special person.

  3. Thanks to Rachel and the rest of you for finishing the project. It was good actually hearing your voice, not just reading your words. You had such good advice. I wish I had done more to help my parents document their stories. I bought notebooks for them with suggested topics to write about it. But neither one followed up on it. And now they're both gone.

  4. Bravo to you and your sister (and whomever else helped) for accomplishing this momentous task and fulfilling a dream for your mom. That is just so special! Your daughter did a great job with the video, too. You give such good advice in it. Thank you for sharing. <3

Two words about comments:
#1. If you leave a comment and it seems to disappear, that's because all comments go straight to my email and I publish them later.
#2. I know putting a comment out there for the world to see is scary but just know this -- if you leave a comment, you make my day!
