Hello, old friends! I do, indeed, still exist. Not that there were any of you losing sleep over the question of whether or not that was true, but just so you know.
This blog has sat silent for very nearly a year. During that great expanse of time (that passed very much like a blink of the eye) many things have happened. As you can tell, I have not felt obliged to talk about them. Still don't, to be honest. There is one thing, however, that I wanted to share with you all.
Sometime in the past year (I don't remember exactly when) I got to thinking about this blog and how I really don't want to lose all my posts here but also, I'm not sure if I'll ever write regularly again. Several other writers who I have followed for years were switching their writing to Substack, so on a whim I Googled some things and hit some buttons and apparently successfully switched my whole account - old posts and all - over to Substack. Simple as that, although I still didn't really know what I was doing or why I was doing it.
There things have sat ever since, and I didn't feel the need to explain it to anybody or to announce it or to share it in any kind of way.
Today I published my first post on Substack. I needed to unravel some things in my mind, so I turned back to the "Dear Mom" posts that I started eleven years ago. If you would like to read the latest one, you will find it here. While you're there, there's a subscribe button you can hit if you want to get in on any future posts I might happen to decide to write in a year or so from now.
